For a Greenhouse Company in the beautiful south of Italy, we are looking for an ambitious, motivated and experienced grow manager for young vegetable plants.

The company has been operating nationally from its company office for 3 generations. The company cultivates young vegetable plants in seed trays, fennel, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, pepper, tomato, melon and watermelon.

Job description

The candidate will be responsible for the watering, feeding, chemical and organic growth regulation, pest and disease control of these young plants in polystyrene and plastic seed trays. The candidate will also train the staff of crop assistants and Quality Managers. The candidate must be able to work independently, but also someone who can lead a team of professional employees to a higher level. He will also manage and organize teams of technical and operational staff. The successful candidate will report directly to the General Manager, so strong interpersonal skills are required.

Job requirements

The candidate we are looking for has at least 5 years of experience as a Growing Manager in plastic and medium technology greenhouses and knows how to grow in Mediterranean conditions, such as southern Europe or northern Africa. A thorough understanding of plant growth, plant physiology and the interaction of plants under different environmental conditions is essential. He must be a producer and a team player. It is very important that the candidate has experience with the climate computer and knows Italian and English, both written and spoken. An additional language (such as Spanish) would be considered an advantage.

The successful candidate is an ambitious personality with excellent interpersonal skills. As he will be leading and training the team, very good communication skills are essential. Able to work proactively and has a problem solving approach. He is also a highly motivated grower who is eager to meet the company’s goals. Willingness for long-term cooperation in the south of Italy is essential.
